Kodaikanal is a hill station at a height of 2500 m., developed primarily for the members of the British dominated civil service. The hill station has the usual complement of church, club, and houses built in the colonial style of architecture prevailing then.

The house, built in 1984, is on a site that is lower than the road on which it abuts. The roof of the house is therefore dominantly visible. Inside are three bedrooms, a living room and a study with a glazed sit out overlooking the lake.

The external walls are in random rubble masonry left exposed on the outside and the roof is double layered with tiles over corrugated iron sheets. The roof is supported on steel substructure. The house is in a pear orchard.
